WASHINGTON (AP) - The Commerce Department says there's a waiting list for anyone applying for federal coupons to pay for converter boxes ahead of the transition to digital television broadcasts.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - It's not a hard deadline, but the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is telling consumers that if they want to make sure they get their $40 discount on a digital-to-analog converter box, they'd best get their application in by the end of the year.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Anyone with cable or satellite is automatically ready for the digital switch. But others with antennas will need to buy converter boxes. Some are now running into problems with not only the boxes, but the places and discounts used to buy them. Video
