Why: The BYU International Folk Dance Ensemble honors the rich traditions of the cultures of the world through dance and music. They will be performing at the Ellen Eccles Theatre on Feb. 21, 2009 at 7:30pm. Tickets are available at centerforthearts.us/events.html. "The Gathering" will present dances from Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America. The cast and crew of 46, with vibrant and authentic costumes, produces one of the most diverse performing groups in the country. From Irish hardshoe to Cossack dancing from the Ukraine, from exotic Indian dances and Hungarian men's slapping dances, all accompanied by the group's music ensemble "Mountain Strings," this show is not one to be missed! Net proceeds go to a replenishment scholarship fund for Cache Valley students.
