Mark your calendar for the upcoming exhibition, Native Species featuring the work of renowned glass artist William Morris. Join us for an opening reception on Thursday, December 4, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., at the Kimball, followed by a screening of the William Morris documentary, Creative Nature, with filmmaker John Andres at 7:30 p.m., at the Treasure Mountain Inn. The evening promises to awe through its exploration of some of the most extraordinary work in the studio glass movement. $5 tickets to the screening are available for purchase at the Kimball Art Center and Treasure Mountain Inn.

A collaboration between Morris and art collector George Stroemple, Native Species embodies the artist and the collector's shared respect for the profound beauty of the natural world. The exhibit consists of 38 blown-glass vessels intricately adorned with flora and fauna indigenous to the Pacific Northwest.

The documentary, Creative Nature, has received numerous awards and critical acclaim throughout the United States. According to Seattle Post-Intelligencer movie critic William Arnold, "The movie shrewdly shows us how Morris, a hiker, climber and all-around outdoorsman, channels his love of the natural world into the art of glass, and manages to tell the whole amazing story of Seattle glass art."

Along with the exhibition opening, the Kimball Art Center will host a private event in The Colony on Saturday, December 6. The evening features a special presentation by George Streomple's personal curator, Linda Tesner. Tickets are $100. To purchase tickets and receive more information please call Michelle McConnell at (435) 649-8882.
