MIDVALE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Prescription pills may be the reason why a driver went on a rampage Monday on Utah freeways.
Troopers say when they finally pulled him over on the Ft. Union exit of I-215, he was incoherent and wouldn't get out of his Ford F-350 pick up, even with their guns drawn.
When they physically brought him out, his truck was still in drive as it ran over an officer's foot and hit a patrol car.
Troopers say the driver was weaving in and out of traffic for miles, and caused several accidents along the way on I-15 and I-215.
Mindy Taylor and her son Keegan were in the carpool lane when she says the reckless driver hit her, shattering her back window.
"I saw him. I looked over at him, trying to get his attention, you know you just hit me. I was honking at him and he was just looking straight ahead," said Taylor.
Troopers say in addition to pills, they found firearms in the man's truck. He was taken to the hospital to be checked out, then he will face charges.
One other driver received minor injuries in one of the accidents.
